September 12, 2026: Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, Chairman of Qatar Tourism, participated in the 10th meeting of GCC tourism officials, held in Manama, Bahrain, on 10 September 2026.
During the meeting, Al Kharji stressed the importance of building on the resilience of the Gulf tourism sector and moving from cooperation towards deeper, more connected and competitive tourism integration across the GCC.
He highlighted the development of joint tourism packages, accelerating the implementation of the GCC Unified Tourist Visa, and expanding joint promotional campaigns in priority international markets. These initiatives are aimed at facilitating visitor movement and strengthening the GCC’s position as an integrated global tourism destination.
Al Kharji also noted that Doha’s designation as the GCC Tourism Capital for 2026 provides an opportunity to strengthen integration among Gulf destinations and showcase the region’s shared cultural and tourism identity.
Qatar also reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s candidacy for membership of the Executive Council of UN Tourism, as well as the nomination of Jebel Akhdar in Oman as the GCC Tourism Capital for 2027, reflecting continued efforts to enhance tourism cooperation and regional integration.
