Dubai, UAE – 24 September 2026: Kingston Technology has highlighted the growing importance of reliable embedded storage as edge computing expands across smart cities, industry, transportation, energy and connected infrastructure in the Middle East.
As more data is processed closer to where it is generated, organisations are placing greater demands on storage performance, durability and reliability, particularly in applications such as smart surveillance, industrial systems, oil and gas infrastructure and traffic management.
“Edge computing is playing a growing role in the Middle East’s digital transformation as organisations bring intelligence and real-time processing closer to devices and operations,” said Antoine Harb, Team Leader Middle East, Kingston Technology.
He noted that companies should consider not only storage capacity and performance, but also operating conditions, workload requirements and system lifecycle.
In the UAE and wider GCC, high temperatures, dust, vibration and continuous operation can place additional pressure on embedded components, making durability and long-term reliability increasingly important.
Kingston said that total cost of ownership should also be considered, as maintenance, replacement and product availability can affect the long-term cost of edge systems.
The company expects storage selection to become an increasingly important factor as edge computing continues to grow across the GCC.
